Barangay New Canaan and Barangay Paraiso Successfully Complete Comprehensive Training on Development Plans and Disaster Risk Management

Congratulations to Barangay New Canaan and Barangay Paraiso from the Municipality of Alabel for successfully completing a comprehensive training on the Barangay Development Plan (BDP), Capacity Development Agenda (CapDev Agenda), and Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan (BDRRMP). The training, held from October 22 to 25, 2024, took place at DreamWeavers Hotel in Koronadal City and aimed to equip local leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively plan and manage their communities’ growth and disaster resilience.

Honorable Benjie C. Balando, Punong Barangay of New Canaan, and Honorable Julito D. Lacay, Punong Barangay of Paraiso, guided their respective barangays comprising of Barangay Kagawads and their Barangay Secretary in the formulation of their development plans, focusing on sustainable growth, community-driven development, and disaster risk management strategies tailored to the specific needs of their barangays.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) provided essential technical assistance throughout the training, extending support to 14 barangays in Region 12. This initiative aimed to guide Local Government Units (LGUs) in creating inclusive, multi-sectoral plans that integrate disaster risk reduction measures. By focusing on disaster-resilient development, the training empowered participants to devise practical strategies for improving the safety, well-being, and overall development of their communities.

The active engagement and participation of Barangay New Canaan and Barangay Paraiso highlight the commitment of their leadership to the long-term development of their communities. The completion of this training marks a significant step toward enhancing the capabilities of these barangays as primary units of governance, planning, and implementing critical development initiatives.

With their newly acquired knowledge, Barangay New Canaan and Barangay Paraiso are now better equipped to lead their communities in both sustainable development and disaster resilience, ensuring a brighter, safer future for their residents.
